Become a decorating guru for less than the price of a throw pillow!

Home decorating, ever wanted to try it, but hesitated because of time constraints or budget concerns. The following ideas will not only give instant results, but more importantly fit into any budget.

1. Changing the Look of Your Walls

Adding a new color or changing the texture, can give the room a completely new appearance and that may be the only decorating change that is necessary.

The easiest option is to paint, and with the color choices available, the possibilities are endless. Another consideration would be wallpaper; the only problem you may have is choosing a design.

If on the other hand, only a little something extra is needed a simple stencil design might just do the trick. Any of these ideas can be used either individually or in combination with each other.

2. Look to Your Windows For a Whole New View

Changing your window treatments is probably the easiest of any home decorating projects.

The choices range from styles that include drapes, tab-top, cafe and shears, backgrounds of solid colors, floral and stripes, fabrics that include silk, cotton, lace or velvet.

The most economical is ready-made; they are very affordable therefore giving you the opportunity to make changes more often.

3. Accessories Make Your Decorating Complete

Some of the more common are area rugs, wall art, lamps, pillows and cozy throws.

Items for the kitchen make beautiful additions, for example; canisters, dinnerware, dishtowels or decorative bottles filled with oils and vinegar.

Add a little whimsy with oversized ceramic figures like roosters, or the adorable pigs holding chalkboard menus.

Bathrooms are another area for pretty accessories like decorative soaps placed in a bowl or basket; towels come in so many colors and designs now that they alone make great accessories.

Last but not least do not forget candles and bowls of potpourri

4. Collectibles Bring a Personal Touch to Home Decorating

Collectibles can be anything involving three or more of the same thing, or items that are related.

This can include porcelain dolls, Christmas villages, collector plates and who can resist those adorable little faces of Boyds Bears.

Maybe items with a nostalgic feel like tin lunch boxes, cookie jars or salt & pepper shakers stir up special memories of childhood

5. Updating Your Furniture

One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is with slipcovers; they come in a large variety of colors and patterns.

Pieces like end tables, hutches or even a dinning table and chairs can be refinished for a new look.

One way is with paint. Pick a color to coordinate with your room or choose something bright and whimsical. Another option would be to use stain, stains come in a multitude of shades; they can also come in colors.

So, if you are ready to give some decorating a go, try these basic changes to start. Over time, more things can be changed but for right now, simple changes can make a big difference.

The path to becoming a leader is actually a path of personal growth, learning how to utilize all of one's resources and becoming all that one can be. A couple of the keys follow:

Key 1 - Be An Example Of What You Want Others To Be.

We all have expectations of others, and many leaders spend most of their time trying to get others to meet their standards.. They demand loyalty, dependability, and enthusiasm, want others to be one hundred per cent committed to getting the job done. These are fine expectations. However, before placing them upon others, make sure you live them yourself fully.

You cannot ask more from others than you ask from yourself. Who you are always speaks much more loudly than what you say. Take a personal inventory of all the qualities you want in others. Then take a personal inventory of how you express these qualities in your own life. Pick one quality a day and work with it. Be aware of how and when you could be expressing this quality and what different it would make, both to yourself and others.

Key 2 - Say What You Mean And Do What You Say

This is also called being authentic, or aligned communication. When we think one thing, say another and then do something else, not only are we personally out of alignment, but the basic message we are communicating is that we cannot be trusted. We are out of balance and integrity.

There are hidden agendas operating and we are not living from the fundamental truth of who we are. Integrity is a key quality needed in leaders. This is developed and communicated by direct, honest communication.

Say What You Mean - do not play games and manipulate others. Manipulation always backfires. Although it may be exciting to be on your team, if others are manipulated, sooner or later they will feel used and recoil. A true leader inspires trust. He/she can be trusted. This is developed when you say what you mean and do what you say in a timely manner. When you keep your promises to others, they will keep their promises to you.

Key 3- True Leaders Serve Others, They Do Not Dominate

Many individuals think of a leader as having power over others. These leaders mistakenly use their power to dominate and control. This is not leadership, but domination. It is a sign of weakness, not strength.

True strength comes from understanding that the real function of a leader is to serve, to actualize a larger vision, be dedicated to a cause beyond one's personal concerns. Rather than think that others are there to serve you, realize that each person on your team is someone you are there to help. It is your job to bring out the best in him/her.When you help them become all they can be, when you share your vision and bring it alive in them, you are leading truly..

This key can be implemented by putting your attention on the well-being of others, not just necessarily on your goal.. Others, sensing your concern, feel cared for and uplifted. They naturally work to the best of their capacities and offer support in return.

Key 4 - Acknowledge Others Every Step Of The Way

We take so much for granted. When others take actions that are helpful, most of the time they go unnoticed. A true leader makes a point of noticing even the smallest actions of those he is leading, and acknowledging them each step of the way. Continual acknowledgment not only encourages further action, but is a form of gratitude.

It builds momentum both in the relationship and project. The individual who has been acknowledged feels known and valued. Their contribution is validated. This builds a strong sense of self worth in them and allows them to be more creative as well.

Not only is it necessary to acknowledge others, but also oneself. Take time to write down the steps you've taken each day, particularly those that have brought you closer to your goal. Consider this a book of wins. Read your wins over daily. Take a moment and acknowledge to yourself all you have accomplished. Otherwise, our actions blend together and are quickly lost track of. We are usually only aware of what is left to do, and often do not experience fulfillment each step of the way.

KEY 5 - Give Credit For Success To Others

Rather than be in the limelight, reaping the praise for a job well done, give the praise and acknowledgment to others. Mention their contributions. Give credit where credit is due. Do this publicly. Not only will their loyalty to the project deepen, but along with it their good will.

When you take all the praise for yourself, jealousy and competition appear.. Power struggles, fear, and resentment saps energy and momentum. Obstructions and obstacles arise. The less praise you take for yourself, the more the project will thrive.

This is leadership which recognizes that no one can achieve a goal alone. It is based upon an ancient saying, "The more we praise others, the more are we praiseworthy ourselves."

Once considered a teenage fad, text messaging popularity in the United States is rising dramatically. According to The Wall Street Journal, 4.7 billion text messages were sent in the USA in December, 2004 compared to 2.1 billion in December, 2003.

In fact, text messaging is entering all aspects of our society, even relationships. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that nine percent of singles have even admitted to breaking up with their significant others via text message. Thirty percent of text users said that they've continued an argument by text message; probably part of the same group that ultimately contributed to the break ups.

The applications for text messaging promotions are also increasing just as quickly. Major League Baseball offers a text message service that enables its fans to catch up on the latest news and results of their favorite team.

There are also custom cell phone wallpapers of team logos and unique actual game recorded play-by-play ringtones in the professional baseball offering. Live 8, which sponsored the single biggest text messaging promotion in history, garnered 26 million texts last month supporting increased government aid to poor African countries. The opportunities for promoters appear to only be limited by one's imagination.

One of the more interesting applications that we've seen is one being sold to radio stations by Chicago-based Spark Network Services. Spark, which got its start by offering 900-number based radio voice personal datelines, is now selling a suite of text messaging products called PromoTXTRadio. The text messaging products allow radio stations to offer votelines, sweepstakes, song dedications, station play lists, traffic reports, and breaking news via text message. It even allows radio stations to offer their station jingles to be played as cell phone ringtones.

Still, Americans have a long way to go to catch their Asian brethren when it comes to the growing phenomenon of text messaging. CTIA-The Wireless Association, estimates that the average Chinese cell phone user sent 651 text messages last year compared to just 203 for US wireless users.

Genealogy book : Find Your Noble Ancestors!

By "nobility" I refer to that class in society which once had hereditary political, financial and social privileges guaranteed by law. By "original nobility" I follow the German (and now internationally accepted) definition and refer to those families who were ennobled (or generally recognised as nobles) before the year 1400. With "patricians" I refer to those families who from time immemorial were recorded as local and regional leaders, and usually as a base for their power had vast landed properties. With "knight" I refer to the warrior class that emerged and developed during 900 - 1300 AD.

The original nobility was comprised of those two categories, the patricians and the knights. The patricians soon developed into the higher nobility, and were often granted land and titles by the king or ruler. To administer the vast and scattered estates they needed local commanders, who in their turn needed well armed warriors to defend the properties. During the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries the duties and privileges (e.g. to maintain an armed force and enjoy tax exemption) became formalised and hereditary.

Among the knights one could originally distinguish two classes: the nobiles (who belonged to the hereditary and wealthy higher nobility, usually derived from the patricians), and the milites (the lower nobility which served as officers in the castles of the higher nobility).

During the 12th and 13th centuries these two groups, the nobiles and the milites, were merged, as the milites gained priveleges, built their own castles and married the daughters of the nobiles.

Slowly a chivalric ideal developed, and chivalric virtues such as bravery and gallantry were praised.

As the military importance of the knights decreased during the 14th and 15th centuries, the chivalric system became more of a cultural institution. The knights became more closely attached to the royal and princely courts, and more importance was given to heraldry and various ceremonies. It became increasingly more common for the king or prince to create new nobles by means of letters patent, and soon this newly created titular nobility had by far outnumbered the original nobility. During the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries the creation of new nobles in many countries became so extensive they were soon regarded as the "only" and the "real" nobility. The original nobility had by then in many cases lost their original landed properties, due to ward and seizures, and along with them the recognition they once enjoyed.

So it was that the exception became the rule (patent nobility) and substance was replaced by shadow (landed properties with honorific titles). But until this day it remains true that "Laws may be changed, privileges may expire. But the duties to the Fatherland remain. And once those duties are fulfilled, little does it worry the true nobility where its position in society is put" (Count Gustaf Lagerbjelke, 1866).

Daily Dose of Happiness" to see how people define happiness. I was stunned to discover that I am the only person who defines happiness as an extra helping of cheesecake.

There were other shockers, too.

We know that money can't buy happiness ... except, of course, when we are flat broke. But I figured several people would define happiness, at least in part, as a bulging bank vault or "financial freedom". Just three people cited money in their definitions of happiness.

I also figured many people would cite health as part of their definition of happiness, as in "health, wealth, and happiness". But only four people mentioned health.

No health? No wealth? How do people define happiness?

The top rated mention goes to family. It seems that we might be flat broke and deathly ill, but a loving family will make us happy just the same.

Altruism and kindness are also key. It seems we smile by making others smile. Isn't that nice? No health and no wealth. Just smile.

Faith scores big, too. This works out very well, because we can ask our loving family to pray for a speedy recovery and a big win in El Gordo next month (assuming we recover first).

What does this mean? It means the spammers have it all wrong. They keep sending us useless emails about making money.

A typical spam message says, "Get the insider secrets to making millions on the Internet. I will give you these valuable secrets for peanuts just because I love your smile so much. You could make $5,433 in the next hour if you act now. Hurry. Don't wait. This is the real thing. You can trust me. All the others are just scammers."

Instead, spammers should be sending offers like, "Get the insider secret to building a loving family on the Internet.

Men Made Easy. The secrets to love, romance, marriage, happiness.

I will give you these valuable secrets for peanuts (and a big virtual hug) just because I love your smile so much. You could love your kids, spouses, uncles, parents, pets - anybody! - in the next hour if you act now. Hurry. Don't wait. This is the real thing. You can trust me. All the others are just family planners."

Spammers also waste emails on replacing body parts we never had and enhancing body parts we could never have, when what we really want is to know God better.

Here is a typical spammer email: "Hair loss? We just released the miracle cure. Grow your hair back thicker than a wooly mammoth preparing for the next ice age. This is worth a gazillion dollars, but you get it free for just pennies a day. Give me your credit card number before midnight tonight. I can't afford to offer this price for long. Beware phony products that drip funny colors in your face or make hair grow in all the wrong places. This is the real thing!"

Instead, spammers should be saying: "Faithless? Book your luncheon with the Pope, dinner with the Dalai Lama and a one-on-one chat with Moses. Reserve your seat free for just a handful of pennies. Give me your credit card number before midnight tonight. Act now. I can't afford to offer this price for long. Beware phony reservations for meetings with Michael Jackson and other fake gods. This is the real thing!"

By the way, Mother Nature was also a part of many definitions of happiness. So take your family down by the river for a prayer. And if you can lend a helping hand to a chipmunk or a duck, you'll be the perfect definition of happiness.

Experience A Drive In Theatre Near You!

The magic of the Drive In theatres can still be experienced today.

There are more than 400 Drive In theatres across the United States still in operation, newly built or reopened. The first Drive In opened back in 1933 and grew by 1948 to a total of 820.

The 1950's saw the biggest increase and by 1958 there was a whopping 5,000 Drive In theatres with some large enough to accommodate up to 3,000 cars or more. Attendance started to drop in the 1960's and by the 1980's the number of Drive In theatres still open for business had dwindled down to less that 1,000.

The summer of 2005 has seen 2 newly opened Drive In theatres in my area of Illinois. The old Galesburg Drive In theatre that had been closed for years just re-opened and is now called the Blue Moonlight Drive In and the newly built Galva Autovue Theatre is open for business.

If you have never been to a Drive In theatre, I encourage you to pack up the kids and go. Most Drive Ins have a playground area so go early and then sit back and watch the show in the convenience of your car.

Calling a projector hire company will often get you confused as they ask:

What lumens do you need? (Lumens is the brightness of the projector)
What resolution do you need? (Resolution is the number of pixels at which the display device does not have to expand or compress the input signal)
What type: install, desktop or portable? (Install projectors tend to be larger and heavier, desktop ones are small and light and portable are somewhere in between!)

What you should ask yourself are the following simple questions:

How many people will need to see the projected image?
A 1000 lumens projector will usually be sufficient for a smaller meeting - up to 20 people. 2000 lumens is better. A brighter projector will be needed for brighter rooms, bigger screens and larger audiences - some projectors go up to over 10,000 lumens but you shouldn't need these for a simple presentation!
What will you be showing on the projector?
Both data (from a computer) and video can be used to input into the majority of projectors. Most computers are XGA resolution (1024x768 pixels), but some older models may be VGA. This is not a problem for SVGA projectors, which will generally automatically lower the resolution, however if you are projecting high resolution photos and want near photographic detail, then it will have to be an XGA. If the projector is only going to be used to project video from a DVD or video, then there is little advantage in using the higher resolution XGA since SVGA can already project an image consisting of over 800 lines which is more than the resolution of a video signal.
How big is the room - do you need a PA system?
Most projectors come with a small speaker that's useless for anything practical. There's nothing worse than being unable to make yourself heard! If you've got sound with your presentation or video, make sure you hire a separate PA system to let people hear it.

When people mention the word "brand" they usually mean a well known, well defined company.

That's why consumers frequently mention names such as Target, Rolex, Apple, BMW and others who have done an excellent job in crafting an image and sticking with it. Buyers know what to expect from these companies, and as long as these companies meet that expectation, they will continue to imprint their brand in the minds of our their audience. It's pretty simple really, if you just keep in mind these two principals.

Principal One: Know your promise.

As amazing as this may seem, most companies don't really know what it is they are promising their clients. That's why they have weak brands. They may have mission statements, and can spout off why everyone should use their product or service, but really it's just a rambling list. Out of fear of losing audience, most companies will try to compete on price, quality and service... and that's a recipe for disaster. Who wants to buy a watch from the Discount Overnight Rolex store? If you try to go after all three areas you end up muddied in the mind of the consumer, who is trying to put you in a box. And in this case... that's a good thing!

A mental "box" is not that different from a set of mail room boxes. The customers gets all these incoming "messages" and has to sort them all day. The easier you make it for them to sort your company, and put it in a category, the easier it will be for them to recall it when needed. Try this... think of a fast place to eat. How about the best tasting food? And finally, the place you go if you really want to impress someone? You can probably think of each of these categories rather quickly. And chances are, these companies are more than happy to fill that niche without trying to become much more.

Take a moment and write out in two or three sentences (more if you're feeling inspired) exactly what your brand promises. It will usually fall under three main categories... quality, service or price. But there are nuances. Ben & Jerry's image contains both a quality message and a social message... one of comittment to the community and environment.

Principal Two: Never violate Principal One.

Once you have firmly established your promise in the minds of consumers, make sure every move you make conforms to that promise. Coke was fine to come out with Diet Coke, Cherry Coke and a host of other flavor variations (brand extension) but they completely missed the mark when they introduced NEW Coke. People believed in Coke, identified with Coke and it was a part of their history. New Coke was seen as a betrayal of the brand itself, a vote of no confidence in their core product. "What's wrong with the original Coke?" was the immediate question that popped up in most minds. That's why is so important to know what it is, and why it is, that people buy from you and believe in you.

Know your promise and keep your promise. Pretty simple? Yet it will go a long ways toward making your company resonate with your customer on a deep and lasting level. And that's a promise.

1) The SEO experts research and make claims of what works to get a website to the top of the search engines.

2) It works for a time, and websites implementing their tactics move up the ranks.

3) Eventually, the algorithms change, and websites gain or lose rankings.

4) SEO experts make adjustments, then back to step one in the cycle again.

Around and around we go like mice on the optimization exercise wheel. Furthermore, we do not foresee any chance of stepping off of the optimization wheel for years to come. From our experience, as long as search engines exist, the algorithms will always change, and the SEO experts will always have a job.

But, is Search Engine Optimization really necessary?

To Optimize or Not...

If you've set up a flow of traffic to your website outside of search engines, there really is no need to optimize. However, if you want search engine traffic, you'll need to step onto the wheel. Is search engine traffic worth stepping onto the endless wheel?

Marketing experts tell us all the reasons why search engine traffic is targeted. But, let's put that aside for a moment and talk about real-world experience for a minute. In the past 10 years, our websites have received traffic from every imaginable source. But, you want to know about search engine traffic, right? We'll give it to you straight.

Search engines have sent us some of our best customers. A significant number have stayed with us for years, and a surprising number have made purchases on their first visit - direct from the search engines.

Now, with this is mind, perhaps you can understand why we have felt gazumped after losing a significant amount of search engine traffic.

So, what exactly happened to us?

Dancing With Google...

For years, we have been building a professional community where home-based entrepreneurs can network with one another and find the resources they need. As a clearinghouse of information, it has been a real task to organize the thousands of pages of information and make it user-friendly.

We had been #1 on Google for years for the coveted term "home business," among other terms. As such, we enjoyed traffic that brought us a significant number of customers and subscribers. Traffic and sales grew consistently for those years. Our Alexa rating showed the continued growth by going from a ranking of 30,000 to almost 15,000 in a year.

Enter the 'Florida' Update.

In November, we were still #1 on Google. Traffic and sales were good.

In December, it appeared the Update was good for us. We remained #1 and sales were at an all-time high. "We're getting through this just fine," we gloated. Nothing to worry about.

But, then things began to change - drastically!

After a quick perusal of our traffic logs, it became obvious Google was playing with our rankings. You know, playing the dance floor. Google may have come to the dance with us as her date, but she left with a different partner.

A little research confirmed that not only had we dropped in our rankings for our coveted search term, but we were nowhere to be found in even the top 1,000. What? From #1 to oblivion? How could that be? The date was over... Gazumped by Google!

Some weeks later, typing 'link:www.ourURL' in the Google toolbar brought another startling revelation. While our inbound links before the dance were around 800

But, why stop there? Let's add a little salt to the wound, shall we? It also appeared that Google was only spidering a few, select parts of our website. No more deep crawls where all the meaty content can be found. Gazumped by Google!

So, where from here?

Lessons Learned...

After two months of a substantial drop in traffic and sales, we are not out of business. Why not? For one, we have not counted on Google as our sole source of traffic. We are still receiving decent traffic, but we could be doing better. I'm afraid we had been gliding on the coattails of Google for too long. Sometimes you just need a good kick in the pants. This wake-up call has been good for us. Like multiple streams of income, we will up the anti on multiple streams of traffic. That way, when one traffic source dries up, it will not effect us significantly.

It's time to make some well-needed changes to our website. It could be better. A lot better. We're going to stop talking about them, hunker down, and make those changes.

We believe this dance is not over yet and Google may decide to return to the dance floor. Considering 'Gazump #2' above, it only makes sense that there are still plenty of bugs to be ironed out.

We'll get our traffic back and in a big way. If not through Google, certainly through other traffic sources. There's more than one way to reach the summit.

The Very Best Strategy...

The fact is you could spend hours upon hours in search engine optimization, and while we believe that optimizing your website is important, it shouldn't be the main focus. We're of the opinion that websites should first be built for customers and prospective customers, and second for search engines. Take a look at your website from your customer's perspective. Does it do what you want it to do?

Go ahead and hop on the optimization wheel. Get it turning, but don't become obsessed with it. If you have the resources for it, consider hiring an SEO specialist to help. Be sure you have plenty of traffic sources, don't rely on just one or two.

Finally, anything online, including the search engines, are driven by the market's opinion. When the dance is over, if Google doesn't provide the very best search results, the market will go elsewhere. For this reason, no matter what might happen to us personally through the Google Dance, the end result will be better search results - if not Google, then another search engine.

Either way, the market will determine who wins in the end.

a catalogue search at my local library, I came across this title: "Fitness without Exercise - The Scientifically Proven Strategy for Achieving Maximum Health with Minimum Effort." This book by Bryant Stamford and Porter Shimer really misses the point. After all, fitness is more of an attitude than a destination.

I found another title for a book that is a better concept and is one with which I completely agree. "Walking: the Pleasure Exercise," a book by Mort Malkin. Actually, during my research at the library, more than 20 per cent of the items had *walking* in their titles when I used *fitness* as the search-word. Makes sense, doesn't it?

Walking is naturally one of the best places to start creating a Fitness Attitude. For one thing, it gets you outdoors, and that's good for the fitness of your head! In addition, it uses all the large muscles in your body, it's low-impact, and it doesn't require any special equipment. It is something you are already expert at doing, and your body is perfectly designed for it. Hooray! You've got an awesome place to begin on your way to having a Fitness Attitude: Go for a walk every day.

Now, I'm going to make a confession. Even though I place a high value on health and nutrition and fitness in general, I sometimes have to really make an effort to get out the door with my walking shoes on. Today, for example, it was rainy and cold. I had a back-log of emails to answer, and had eaten a heavy lunch. It would have been really easy to make a very good case for staying indoors by the woodstove with my computer screen glowing away.

At a time like this, momentum helps. I feel weird when I have to miss my daily walk because over time it's become a part of my life. It easier to walk consistently when you make it a routine, or you have a ritual to help you get out the door. A routine will also to carry you along. Decide on a length of time for your walk, rather than setting a distance. Then, go! Some routes will become your standards, and then you won't have to plan - which is one of the benefits of a routine. Used appropriately, routines free your thoughts, so you can contemplate topics more interesting than whether to make a right or left turn at the corner.

Good for you, if you use a treadmill, gym, or other walking strategy such as mall walks. Still, if you can possibly make arrangements, spend at least some of your walking time outside. Time in the open air is part of fitness as an attitude.

Which brings up the question of food as it relates to the attitude of fitness. Generally, when you are eating foods that have a good natural basis, (like salads that aren't drowning in some oily vinegar dressing, or a vegetable stir- fry that isn't heavily glazed with high-sugar sauce), you don't crave garbage non-foods like my personal favorite: red licorice. Still, the packaging of 'snack foods' and the ease and portability they afford in our frenetically paced culture means that sometimes, you're going to eat junk. Once you've established your Fitness Attitude, though, processed 'foods' stop being a staple in your diet, and that's a better fit.

As you put attention on fitness, your life will soon include the pleasure of walking daily and a natural hunger for whole foods that are nourishing to you. A Fitness Attitude isn't complicated, and you'll feel better. You simply will.

At every moment you can tell if the vibration that you are sending is either a positive one or a negative one by identifying the feeling you are experiencing. I recently received an unsolicited e-mail from some company offering me their search engine optimization services for $199. Even though I had absolutely no interest in the offer, just out of curiosity, I decided to check out this company with the various search engines.

Incredibly, they were nowhere to be found! I couldn't find them on Google, Yahoo, Dogpile, anywhere! That's because they didn't really exist. They never did. They were just another one of the many prevalent e-mail scams out there.

When potential customers arrive at your website for the first time, they're both apprehensive and skeptical--and rightfully so. With so many scam artists and rip-offs prevalent on the Internet, you have to expect and anticipate that type of mindset.

Why? Because it 'packed a punch.' You have three seconds to nab your reader in any written communication. Do it with a smashing title or headline! This secret technique, when used properly, practically guarantees that he or she will stay with you till the last line of your cover letter, article, or report.

A strong headline that 'jumps' off the page of your cover letter will keep them reading your writing. And if you're trying to land a job interview, what could be more important than riveting the person to your every word?

Imagine the results you'll experience in your job search when your cover letter opens with an attention-grabbing headline that is so unique and so compelling that the hiring manager cannot put it down? "You wish!" Sean went to get some food while Bob ordered some white wine for them both.

"You're becoming a regular aren't you?" The sprightly barmaid commented as she brought him their drinks and took his Gold Card.

"I was coming to Friday's before you were allowed to drink milk on your own, probably. I've been to them in so many cities I can't even remember."

"I'm older than you think. In fact you're probably not more than five years older than me." She chuckled, as one of the other patrons who was standing nearby joined in.

"It isn't usual to hear a woman bragging about how old she is. Do you always have this effect on people, Mr. Black Hat?" A woman of about thirty with long red hair commented.

"I do seem to cause some extreme reactions in many situations. I guess it must be because I'm a REAL red-head! Ha-ha."

"I suppose you want to see if I'm a REAL red-head." She smiled with a wicked and mischievous grin that Bob returned, just as Sean came back and stood between them.

"I can't leave you alone for a minute; can I Bob? SO who is this beauty you've struck up an acquaintance with? My name is Sean." Sean was shaking her hand as she looked him over.

"I had been thinking he was your father, but now I see you are much better looking and he couldn't be related to YOU! My name is Bonnie Brown, and I love that accent!"

"Bonnie was just suggesting that I might want to know what even her hairdresser doesn't. Maybe you could take her up on that offer." Bob was close to laughing out loud.

"I was not! He is a 'rude dude', why don't we go sit somewhere else Sean?" Bonnie responded angrily.

"Please, Sean. See what she wants. I'm OK here for a while. Take your drink with you." Bob held his drink out for Sean to take.

"Bonnie, I don't know why the two of you choose to be doing what you are doing. I would be happy to talk with you and explore the possibilities but I don't see any reason to make enemies. If I get him to promise not to be rude will you stay and continue our discussion?"

"You look and sound so DELICIOUS. I would do anything for you! Why don't we go out to my car and discuss it in private?"

"I think I see why Bob was acting the way he was Bonnie. I'm sure there are lots of people who would be happy to take you up on your offer. I am not inclined to do that with someone I don't know. I'm sorry."

"You might very well be sorry later. I want you to know I am a mortgage banker and a professional who doesn't waste time 'beating around the bush'; if I like something I 'go for it'."

"Sounds delightful, Bonnie. I am inclined to look for something a little more meaningful when I engage in sex, however. Perhaps what you are doing works for you. It doesn't work with me!"

Sean turned to smile at Bob as Bonnie walked to the other side of the bar. "Wow! American women can be pretty forward!"

"I think Swedish women are forward. She is sick. You handled the situation very well and much more politely than I was doing. I am impressed."

"I was too!" A blond girl of about 25 who was standing near the gas pump in the corner offered.

"My name is Susan; may I join the two of you?" She began to take Bonnie's barstool as Bob and Sean admired her whole appearance. Her face was sculpted with smooth lines and style.

"This is Sean; he is from New Zealand and doing a world tour until he decided to stay here in Las Vegas. I'm Bob, and I just moved here from L.A., but I'm originally from Canada. Are you from Las Vegas, Susan?"

"No, but I've been here for a couple of years working as a show girl and trying to get a singing career together. I'm from Florida originally."

"You have wonderful warmth in your voice!" Sean remarked with apparent admiration. "Is that the famous Southern Drawl I've heard about?"

"Her drawl is much better than most, Sean." Bob offered as he saw the two of them were attracted to each other and got up. "I think I'll go get something to eat at the buffet. Would you like some Susan?"

"I'll have some of Sean's stuff here." Susan was definitely what Sean needed. When Bob returned he noticed they were enjoying each other immensely and he reminded Sean that he would be picking him up at four in the morning. "You can sleep on the way to L.A. if you want, but you must be ready. I think I'll go and get rested up. Susan, it was nice meeting you! I hope we'll meet again sometime. He needs to be shown the best that Las Vegas has to offer and I hope you are the one to do it."

"What do you suggest, Bob?"

"I think Cirque du Soleil is a good show, and maybe you could take him to the 'Follies' or wherever you work."

"Yes, that is where I work! Thanks Bob! I look forward to seeing you again, too." Susan stood and gave him a hug after he shook hands with Sean. Sean thanked Bob with a big smile on his face. On his way out Bob looked back and saw them engaged in getting ready to go to the shows.

"Sean, I think your eyes look almost like Paul Newman's. I love them and I hope you are as great a man as he is."

"Have you met HIM?!"

"Yes. I was introduced as the lead dancer in a program he was attending as a fund-raiser."

"Tell me all about yourself; you must have an exciting life!"

"Well, I think it would be best if we head over to the Mirage and get to know each other on the way. Did you bring your car?"

"No, I just decided to stay here this morning or late last night. We were up very late." They both stood to get on their way and Sean made sure he pulled her chair out for her.

"Thank you very much! I don't always need a gentleman, but it is nice for a change... Do you know anything about Cirque?" Sean responded with a mutter as he saw her strong legs and fantastic shape in front of him. He told himself to be cool and not to get too excited. As he dashed ahead of her to get the door on their way out, Susan stopped him and gave him a little kiss. "I don't want you to treat me as some kind of goddess, Sean. Just be yourself."

"I am used to opening doors for ladies. That is how my parents raised me, and besides I like getting the chance to look at your face."

"How do you like 'Lost Wages'? Sean?"

"I'm getting to know it and I am a very lucky person! Bob and some other people I met last night are the MOST incredible people I have ever met. I get to meet a lot of important people; my father is a 'big wig' in New Zealand."

They stopped at a Mitsubishi 3000 GT. It was black and fast looking. Sean was impressed by the newness and beauty of the car. "I love the look of these cars! I hope you let me drive it sometime."

He opened the driver's door for her and gave her a kiss once she was seated in the front seat, before rushing around to get in the other door. "So Susan, I want to know all about you!" He said while doing his seatbelt up.

"OK. Here is the five minute synopsis. I am 26, a Virgo and I'll graduate with a Master's in Psychology in January. I own my own home in Summerlin and I have a Persian cat named Carmelita. My last name is Del Balso, and I grew up in Boca Raton. My father died a couple of years ago, but he wasn't an important part of my life for most of it. We had some problems that I don't wish to go into right now. I love all kinds of music and I sing pop music in a band occasionally. There are many things I enjoy but creativity and cleanliness are the tops with me. I think I'm going to get my doctorate while I establish a growing practice dealing with family violence."

"That is 'fantastic'! WE might be able to work something out with you. I can't tell you all the details but we are starting a sensual emporium of spiritual delights and need someone to help the performers with psychological problems.

"I almost never have to pay for any entertainment, except at New Year's or the Computer Show." They went to the Floor Manager directly and before they got close to him he was waving and beckoning to Susan. Sean felt like a 'star' even though he was just along for the ride. He noticed many people had a hard time keeping their eyes off Susan, and it made him feel more important than he thought it would. "This is Sean, my date! He's moving here from New Zealand and I want him to see the best show in town!" Susan spoke as if there was no chance she wouldn't get her request answered as she wanted. A crowd of other employees and patrons were standing near her and asking each other who she was, or talking about her performing skills. They got seats about eye level with the performers, and Sean thought they were the best seats in the house. When they were seated Susan leaned against him and he put his arm around her shoulders.

"I have never been with a 'star'; pardon my excitement."

"I can see there are a few things I'll have to teach you, but I imagine you'll be able to show me a thing or three, too." Susan looked up at him and pursed her full luscious red lips. He kissed her sweetly at first and then his hand moved to the side of her neck as his tongue flicked across her lips. She responded with passion and a touch on the inside of his leg just as the lights went down and the circus began. At the end of the show Sean was thinking how much more he needed to know about what love can be before he committed to any one person. He knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that what he felt with Susan could grow into something awesome and he was not sure he could imagine that ever happening with Carolyn. He also knew they had never really experienced a lot together either. His thoughts were interrupted by a squeeze on his knee, and he looked to see Susan looking into his baby blues.

"I love your eyes! Did I tell you that?"

"Yes, but don't think for an instant that I don't want to hear anything you have to say about such things. Because I am absolutely 'blown away' by YOU!" They stood and a natural hug occurred without either of them having to think about it. As they went into the casino Sean saw it was a little after eleven and he knew he had to get up in four hours and hadn't slept much the night before. "I don't want to be away from you but I do need to get a little rest. If there is any chance that you aren't sure WE have to get together again, I will hang around you and do whatever I can to change your mind!"

"Sean, I must tell you this. I don't like to play games. I have a boyfriend, but we aren't getting along right now. I think you are the kind of person that I could LOVE in a way that I have never LOVED anyone before. I am close to being infatuated with you, too."

"God. That sounds so... FANTASTIC!!" Their lips met without Susan having to stand on her tip toes. Sean held her around her tiny waist and felt her large firm butt beneath his hands. He almost felt dizzy as the kiss continued and he had to put his arm out to brace himself against the wall.

"Where are you staying?" Susan made a low and guttural purr.

"Here... on the tenth floor!"

"Can I walk you to your room?" Susan said as they separated.

"Yes, I guess so. I must tell you something first though." Susan took his hand and led him to the elevator as he spoke. "Before I came on this world tour I was engaged to someone I hardly know. Our parents are both from very important families and we have grown up knowing that we were supposed to be together or that it was a likely outcome. I talked to her last night and we both agreed that is stupid and almost feudal."

"I see." Susan took her hand away from his and then put it back. "I guess you need some time to think about whether or not you and I should get too involved, then."

They entered the elevator with other people and Sean was nearly beside himself. He wanted to stop the elevator and kiss Susan with all his heart. He didn't want her to think he wasn't able to be FREE to love her in whatever way she wanted. "I loved the artistry of the show! Have you seen it many times before?"

"Yes, I've seen it four times now, but it is so good I enjoy it more each time. I really appreciate every movement their bodies make and how difficult it is, the more I see them."

They left the elevator together and waited till other people passed by them, before they kissed. There was no one to see them as they slowly kissed. Sean looked into her dark eyes and felt her pull him closer as she returned the energy of his deep gaze. When he nibbled lightly on her lower lip after sucking it for a minute he reached up to just beneath her breasts. She pushed them into his chest and put her hand behind his head. Just then the elevator opened again on its way down. "No. Please come to my room!" Sean said as a moment of fear gripped him. "I don't want you to leave!"

"Are you afraid we won't see each other again?"

"A little! I know I would be a fool to let you go without making ABSOLUTELY sure that we are going to have a chance to get to know each other better."

What are organochlorines?

Organochlorines are chemicals found in some herbicides and pesticides, in chlorine bleach and most chemical disinfectants, and many plastics, especially PVC (polyvinylchloride).

Organochlorines are implicated in causing and promoting breast cancer because they mutate genes and they cause breast cells to become more receptive to a cancer-promoting chemical called estradiol. Organochlorines weaken the immune system and lower your body's resistance to bacteria and viruses. They also act as a negative type of estrogen in the body.

How do they enter our bodies?

Organochlorines enter our bodies through our drinking water, by eating foods grown with certain agricultural chemicals, and through the plastic linings on canned or microwaveable foods. They enter through our lungs by breathing in the fumes of chlorine bleach disinfectants and by body contact with chlorine bleached paper products such as tampons, toilet paper and paper cups.

How can we reduce our exposure?

Step One-Reduce Your Exposure

The first thing to do is to reduce your plastic consumption, especially of convenience foods. On plastic containers, there is typically a triangle with a number inside of it on the bottom of the container. You can recognize PVC or polyvinylchloride as the type of plastic that has a 3 in the center of the triangle.

As for paper products, use oxygen bleached or unbleached paper products. Companies who sell non-chlorine bleached paper products typically say so on the label and they do not necessarily market their products as "green" products.

Buy the non-chlorine bleach and more environmentally friendly household products. Simple vinegar and water can be used for many household chores. Eating only organically produced meat and dairy products will reduce the amount of organochlorines in your diet by 80%.

Step Two-Help Your Liver

With help, your liver can metabolize organochlorines. Flaxseeds and organic egg yolks contain lecithin, a chemical that speeds up the elimination of fat-soluble chemicals such as organochlorines by making them water-soluble.

Beans, lentils, red clover, soy products and chickweed contain chemicals called saponins. Saponins help to break down organochlorines, prevent cellular mutation and can stop the reproduction of cancer cells. These foods are strongly recommended for anybody who regularly consumes organochlorines.

Members of the cabbage family including broccoli, kale, turnips, radishes, cabbage, bok choy or cauliflower can help you metabolize organochlorines by increasing the production of non-cancerous by-products.

Step Three-Mother Nature's Help

Woman-positive natural sources of estrogen can block entrance of organochlorines, estradiol and other cancer promoting estrogens when enough of them are in the blood stream. The reason behind this is that these positive hormones move quickly through our bodies whereas the cancer producing chemicals such as organochlorines move more slowly. If there are enough of these plant hormones in the blood stream, they can easily block organochlorines from attaching themselves to breast cells and from promoting cancer.

These plant hormones can be found in lentils, dried beans, tofu and fermented soy products such as tempeh and miso, parsnips, sweet potatoes, pomegranates, burdock roots, red clover, hops and ginseng. Regular intake of broccoli and cabbage is also helpful.

Making changes in favor of your survival and that of the environment often puts us in a period of re-adjustment, not only with the society we live in, but also with our family, friends and neighbors.

Relay the information in such a way that your guests feel comfortable and leave them to lose the taste for organochlorine products in their own way and time.

Use organic foods to show your body what a natural food is and have confidence that your body will use this knowledge to recognize what isn't natural and respond appropriately to it. This is a goal that can be started even on a limited budget. The return of your natural body begins with one organic apple, especially a shared one!

a book that held a ranking of 2,000 at 2pm and 3,000 at 3pm, might hold a 4,000 ranking at 4pm, even if it actually sold MORE books between 3-4 than it did between 2-3.

Books with rankings between 10,000 and 100,000 are recalculated once a day, rather than once an hour. Current projections, as well as historic sales information play a key role in these calculations. In fact, the predictive nature of the Amazon ranking system is what makes it possible for a newly-released book to outrank an older established title, even though the actual sales figures for the latter far exceed the former.

Books with rankings over 100,000 are also recalculated every day and applied with historic sales information and projections, although in the case of these books, history takes a back seat. Sales projections and trending take an active role here, which is why a book's ranking can leap from 900,000 to 200,000 in the span of 24 hours or less. Does this mean the book has sold 700,000 copies in 24 hours? Absolutely not! What it does mean is that recent activity (i.e. purchases) for that book is trending higher than those 700,000 books it just surpassed. But, don't get excited just yet; since the activity of those 700,000 other books range from slow to stagnant, one or two orders are sufficient to catapult a ranking.

If a book's ranking breaks into the top 100,000, the sales history calculation starts to rear its head, which is why a "phenomenon" book has a hard time maintaining a high, legitimate ranking. A phenomenon is defined by a book that leaps from the high hundred-thousands into the lower thousands (or better) in the span of 24 hours or less, usually due to some concentrated marketing initiatives. Since Amazon's sales history for that title doesn't support the leap, the spike occurs and then quickly drops again.

HOW DOES ALL THIS TRANSLATE TO ACTUAL SALES FIGURES?

Since the data is recalculated every hour and/or every day (depending upon a book's current ranking), it's impossible to get cumulative sales figures, although those figures are applied to the algorithm during the calculation.

No, to get a very rough idea of the actual number of books being sold, the sales ranking has to be dissected dynamically, with the same immediacy as the ranking being calculated, (hourly for top 10,000 books or daily for top 100,000 books). Chart the ranking of a top 10,000 book every hour for 24 hours and divide by 24 to arrive at its average daily ranking. In the case of a top 100,000 book, take its ranking every day for 7 days and divide by 7 to arrive at its average weekly ranking.

Bear in mind that this next piece of information is extremely arbitrary, based upon sales ranking/sales figure comparisons and data received from third party sources. In other words, it's probably completely wrong. But rather than disclaiming this chart until the cows come home, I'll just say this: It is difficult to make sense of something that doesn't make sense. But it sure is interesting, and now, perhaps, even slightly helpful.

If the book's average ranking is: 2,000,000-plus, then perhaps a single inventory/consignment copy has been ordered.

1,000,000-plus, the current trends indicate total sales will most likely be under 40.

100,00-plus, then current trends indicate total sales will most likely be under 200.

10,000-plus, you can estimate between 1 - 10 copies are being sold per week.

1,000-plus, you can estimate between 10 - 100 copies are being sold per week.

100-plus, you can estimate between 100 - 200 copies are being sold per week.

10-plus, you can estimate between 200 - 1000 copies are being sold per week.

In the top 10, you can estimate over 1,000 copies are per week

All to often we criminalize and character assassinate our over achievers. In the business world it is no different. We attack those superstars, which deliver to our civilizations those things we need and desire. We even have government agencies all set up to attack these individuals so we all can feel better about our own mediocrity. We call them liars, cheaters and fraudsters. We allow government agencies to put them in jail or file lawsuits so that the weak can feel good, even though they have achieved nothing in their lives and are dismal failures. In our haste to make everyone equal and at the risk of proving Ayn Rand right, we attack those who deliver every thing we have in our society; everywhere we look. You can think on this fact and I also recommend a book to you;

"The Capitalist Philosophers-The genius of Modern Business-Their Lives, Times, and Ideas" By Andrea Gabor.

This is a great book, which discusses all the different methods of management of labor, systems, processes, and how modern universities teach in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Harvard, etc. It talks about the lives of each philosopher and why or how they came to the conclusions they did and how their visions shaped the world. It is a great history of American business, big business from the old steel factories to the auto industries it discusses all of it. It did not skip any of the essentials, and provides excellent insight and explanation of how these great thinkers of economics and management influenced on another and the Fed. How their thoughts came to be the standards by which all have been judged.

I do not recommend this book to many people, it is too esoteric for most, but I have gained much from it. So if you are a student of economics or a banker who really wants to know why things are the way they are rather than just pushing paper you should read it. Anyone wanting to write a book or get a PhD in such subjects should also read it. Including the professors who claim to know what they teach (that sounded bad). The professors who enlighten their students towards the subject matter in the textbooks they have published to keep their tenure. That sounded worse. The professors, who are paid to shape the minds of their students for the betterment of the free world; Hmmm, that sentence will stand; every one happy now?

All in all, it is necessary to know things about the philosophers who have come to change the way our Corporate Infrastructure works. For instance in the book they talk about Deming and his families farm in Wyoming and his move to Chicago. The challenges that Fredrick Winslow Taylor (yes, in my family tree) incurred with the Unions. The exploits of Alfred Sloan, Elton Mayo; the lives and conquers of Robert McNamera. The theories of Abraham Maslow, and modern author and GE lifer, Peter Drucker. You know this was a great help in understanding what all the real people who made things the way they are really thought. You should read it and think on it as well.

Could this be the worst moment in your selling cycle?

You've done all the right things with your prospect:

�€� You've identified a real need and developed a reasonably solid relationship.

Genuine Website Visitors - Visitors, Traffic, Hits. Your Traffic Solutions

�€� You've determined that your prospect is interested in your solution.

�€� You've had a couple of great meetings or conversations that let the prospect move the sales process forward.

�€� You've supplied everything needed to make a final decision.

�€� And you've followed up, as customary, by leaving messages or e-mails to see if you can get a final decision

But instead, all you're hearing is dead silence.

Not a word. Not a peep.

"I don't get it," you say to yourself.

"Everything was going so well, there's definitely a fit, we had a good relationship.

Then, all of a sudden, nothing.

What went wrong?

I know this feeling well because just about everyone who gets in touch with me (and I speak with dozens of you almost every day) struggles with this exact desperate situation --- wondering what went wrong, why your prospect has broken off communication, and, most importantly, what you can do about it.

The only person who can solve this mystery is -- guess who? Your prospect.

You may have done all the "right" things throughout the sales process, but, somewhere along the way, he or she has never felt truly comfortable enough to tell you the truth about where they really stand with the decision to buy or not buy your solution.

Why not?

Because in most cases prospects don't want to hurt your feelings by telling you something that might disappoint you.

The problem is, something in your selling approach (your tone of voice, your attempt to create forward momentum, your use of traditional sales language) told them that the most important thing on your mind was making that sale.

However, what your selling approach must do is let prospects feel comfortable telling you the truth, all the way through the sales cycle, about exactly where you stand with them, without their having to worry that you'll feel disappointed.

This is the gap that makes it easier for prospects to break off communication, because keeping you at bay lets them feel safer and more in control.

Take "following up" as an example.

When you call or e-mail to follow up, what message are you really sending?

Consider this: that you're pursuing and trying to move closer to your sale.

This triggers sales pressure that makes prospects protect themselves by retreating behind their wall of silence.

Is there anything you can do in these situations?

Yes, definitely.

Don't worry, all is not lost -- but it's important that you look at how something you did or didn't do may have created the situation.

My guess is that, at this point, you'd like to hear is the "truth" about where you stand with your prospect, no matter what that truth is, right?

So, how do you get to it?

Not by moving forward, but by moving backward to try to repair the hidden break in the relationship. "I don't understand," you say. "How would I do that?" It's simple:

1. Just Give your prospect a call (avoid leaving a voicemail, and send an e-mail only if you have no other options) in which you convey the following message:

2. "Hi John, it's Ari with XYZ company, how are you? John, I'm not calling about moving the project forward or anything about the project itself. I'm just calling to apologize...I haven't heard from you for a few weeks and I figured it must be my fault or something that I may have done, maybe I dropped the ball somewhere along that way...so I'm simply calling (or writing) to see if you wouldn't mind sharing some feedback so I can improve for next time?"

In other words, you apologize.

That's right -- you apologize because it's crucial for you to take the high road and be willing to be told that something on your end did cause the communication breakdown.

However, most of the time, prospects will find your apology so disarming that they'll stop worrying about you trying to "sell" them and will finally feel comfortable telling you their truth.

Has someone sent you a nasty email? Don't respond with words. Try this version of a reversal spell. Send the email back to them nine times. If nine times seems too much, send it back three times. This follows the rule of sending back bad energy to its sender three times three times three. After reading their own words, nine times, this may cause the sender to rethink their malevolence. Also effective, is sending the sender back a BLANK email. Press reply, erase all text and charge the blank screen with what you want to say. Send it. To do this you need to create a folder and fill it with files that contain one word such as LOVE, MONEY, and LUCK. Put these files on your desktop, so each time you start up your computer, you are retrieving the magical energy of the words inside the files.

Another good way to manifest magic is to use your screen saver. Try to choose imagery that supports your magickal intent... for instance, images of waterfalls and running water symbolize money, images of flowers represent love and images of clouds and sun represent the acquisition of experience and wisdom.

Never underestimate the power of a password either. When you choose login names or passwords, try and choose names that attract positive energy. For instance the password name "fatdope" might just attract more fat dopes into your sphere. Remember the cosmic principle of "like attracts like."

Research other artists' work. Visit galleries or surf the net and see what other people are doing. Spend the time you are not actually producing art, by increasing your marketing efforts. Send postcards to galleries, research upcoming local art fairs or events where you could possibly take a booth to sell your art. Have some leaflets or brochures printed up all about yourself and your work. Take a couple of days out of your schedule and do a local neighbourhood leaflet drop.

I want to introduce my brother Tony, who's primary concern and preoccupation other than his wife and family is now all about concern for ...Your Feet's Sake. As Tony says "If your feet aren't healthy, neither is the rest of you!"

As a young man Tony practiced sports like hockey, soccer and then squash, with a sprinkling of running. He performed all the forms of exercise that are hardest on the knees. He was also constantly plagued with knee problems. Until he met his wife Linda. Linda owned a foot orthotics practice and she wooed Tony with a pair of orthotics. Soon his knee problems resolved. Tony was so impressed with Linda's orthotics that he left his successful real estate practice. He determined he would have a more fulfilling and satisfying occupation in orthotics. Tony discovered he had an affinity for the science and the creative aspects of making orthotics. As Tony's rational sister I figured he had lost his senses because he was so in love. But together Tony and Linda proved me wrong and built up a very successful orthotics practice. Then they made a pair of orthotics for me.

Now, my entire life I've had a problem with my hips going slightly out of alignment. They would lock up and just not fall properly into the joint. Since I've had my orthotics my hips 'pop' but they haven't seized up and come out of the joint the way they used to. After a year with this pair they will fit me again with a more corrective model which will solve my hip problem completely. The adjustments are necessary to do in phases, otherwise it would be too drastic mechanically, setting you up with other problems. I am very pleased and though I'm not in love with Linda the way Tony is, I am in love with my orthotics.

I have decided that orthotics are a worthy cause and a very necessary component of the health and fitness model. So I will be taking a deeper assessment of all my clients foot mechanics and total body alignment to determine whether an orthotic is something beneficial for you. As a nurse and someone who has studied indepth anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and physics the information I collect from your assessment and pass on to Tony and Linda will be used. They then will ply their skills to create a precise therapeutic orthotic for you. I will have a list of other resources you could alternatively go to as well. I just thought bringing this extra service would help alleviate a lot of knee, hip, alignment, headache, shoulder and foot problems. Whatever I can do to keep you working to your optimal self is my goal.

Now I will give you some facts about orthotics that you should know. All About Orthotics Orthotics are devices which fit into the shoe to aid the foot. "Functional orthotics" are rigid and designed to control motion and correct the function of the foot. Individuals with flatfeet, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, certain foot deformities, knee, hip and back problems may benefit from functional orthotics. The goal of the functional orthotic is to improve the mechanics of the foot, control the abnormal motion in the foot, decrease the pain in the foot, ankle, knee, hip or back and to add support. The orthotic should make standing, walking, jogging or running more comfortable. The orthotic must be rigid to help control the motion in the foot and add support. If the orthotic is soft, the weight of the body would collapse the device and it would no longer function. Abnormal motion is typically in the form of pronation. Pronation is the rolling in of the foot and collapse of the arch. The motion starts at the rearfoot, or heel area. When the heel turns in, it allows the arch to collapse. This puts undue stress on the ligaments and tendons in the arch area and contributes to the development of tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, bunions and hammertoes. The functional orthotic helps to control the abnormal motion in the rearfoot. This is accomplished by taking a mold of the foot in its neutral position. The neutral position is the position the foot should be in when walking. When standing, the over-pronated foot is in the uncorrected position. The mold of the foot should be taken with the patient sitting so the foot can be placed in the neutral position.

The molds are sent to a lab and scanned into a computer. A reverse image is produced and the computer generates an image of the foot in neutral position. The computer adjusts the image based on the corrections recommended by your podiatrist. A model of the foot is then cut out, in some cases out of wood. The orthotic material is pressed over the foot model and the orthotic is created. The most common material is polypropylene, but other materials, such as graphite are used. In some cases, hand-made molds are created out of plaster. This was the classic way orthotics were made until newer technology made the process much less labor intensive. Functional orthotics are a successful treatment for many problems affecting the lower extremity. In a recent article in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, 75% of patients surveyed had good to excellent results from functional orthotics. This includes 17% who felt the orthotics "cured" their pain. Less than 10% had no relief. The most commonly treated condition in the study was a painful heel. Over 20% of patients surveyed were treated for a painful heel and 20% were treated for a painful arch. Fourteen percent of the individuals were using orthotics for flatfeet. Other conditions treated with orthotics were knee, hip and back pain, foot arthritis, bunions and high arches. Tendonitis was not specifically evaluated.

Individuals with plantar fasciitis (heel and arch pain) who also have flatfeet usually respond best to orthotics. The plantar fascia is a ligament type structure on the bottom of the foot which helps to hold up the arch. When the foot collapses, the weight of the body stresses the ligament and results in tearing and inflammation. This results in plantar fasciitis. These individuals typically respond well to orthotics in combination with other treatments. Certain types of tendonitis respond well to orthotics and other types require orthotics. Posterior tibial tendonitis is the tearing and inflammation of the tendon that helps to hold up the arch. When this tendon is overstressed by arch collapse it cannot heal. Orthotics are essential in the treatment of this condition.

Individuals with high arches may require orthotics as well, but they do not respond as well. Orthotics can help slow the progression of bunions and hammertoes, but they will not prevent this process. Orthotics may help with some pain at a bunion, but they will not "cure" the bunion. When the motion in the foot is contributing to the problem, orthotics are generally recommended. If the foot is stable and does not require support, the bunion, hammertoe, neuroma, tendonitis or even plantar fasciitis may not require custom made orthotics for treatment. These individuals may do well with a pre-fabricated orthotic.

"Accommodative orthotics" are soft and designed to reduce pressure and prevent excess friction. Diabetics and those with a loss of sensation or circulation in their feet will benefit from accommodative orthotics. Both types of orthotics are custom made by taking a mold of the foot. Many insurance companies cover orthotics for certain diagnoses. The most commonly covered diagnoses are plantar fasciitis (heel and arch pain), and diabetes. Orthotics range from $250 (accommodative) to $600(functional).

What used to be a guarantee of a nice salary is now ridiculed in some ignorant circles. After working in the Information Technology field for twelve years I still believe the Microsoft MCSE Certification is worth every dollar you spend and every hour spent in study and practice. I'll share my history with the Microsoft MCSE Certification and why I still believe it's a valuable certification credential.

My History: Pre Microsoft MCSE

When I started out as a PC LAN Analyst I wanted to someday run my own shop. The best way I felt to get there was to study for the much sought after Novell CNE and Microsoft MCSE Certification.

I understood archaic technologies like IPX and Token Ring as well as networking technologies used today such as Ethernet, and TCP/IP I at least had enough knowledge

You will pass Sunshine Point(camping,picnic) and then Kautz Creek Trailhead. Very nice trail up towards Mount Ararat(6010') and Indian Henrys Hunting Ground(Views are great).

As you continue up the Main road you will reach Longmire(lodging, museum, Info Center and dining). There is a short Trail of the Shadows as well as Rampart Ridge trailhead(good trail). After Longmire you drive on to Cougar Rock campground. Continue higher up to Christine Falls and on up to Paradise.

Paradise is the main visitors area with many short trails through meadows right at the base of the Mountain. (Visitor center, lodging, dining)

Past Paradise you will find the road continue through the park towards Sunrise in the Northeast section of the park. Past forest, meadows, lakes, and streams. Box Canyon is a nice hike. You pass Cougar Falls and head south around Backbone Ridge, then back north through the Stevens Canyon Entrance. Grove of the Patriarchs trail is a great hike through some old growth forest.

Heading north the road goes past the Shriner Peak Lookout Trailhead. Up to Cayuse pass and down to the White River Entrance. White River has camping and some good trails to explore.

If you continue on to the Sunrise visitor center you will find some outstanding views and quite a few trails to sample.

Even though our lives progressively moves forward on occasion it has a way of working what seems to be in a backwards motion, yet in the end achieves the same results. I remember years ago when I started my bodybuilding career, I had no self- confidence, poor self-esteem, and an introverted personality. I couldn't fathom doing what others believed I could accomplish in such an unusual sport that went totally against my nature. However, at first I thought, "I didn't want to let them down and what if they're right? What if I could accomplish something if I set my mind to it, I asked? What if by believing in something bigger than myself would allow me to be a better person, develop confidence and be more outgoing?" Then over a period of time the belief others had started to rub off in me, combined with my work ethic the rest became history.

I really don't want to compare myself to a horse, but in the movie "Sea Biscuit", a similar experience takes place. Four men from all together different backgrounds come together with a hope, a prayer and a horse of all things. They believed that with a little direction, Sea Biscuit would accomplish great things and surpass immeasurable odds. So inspired by a few (who happened to be going by the seat of their pants), Sea Biscuit began to believe he too could do great things. The thing is, this horse didn't know nor did he care that these four men combined had only a hand full of horse sense (no pun intended). They believed in him and that was all that mattered. As Sea Biscuits confidence grew his influence upon those around him did also. Through Sea Biscuits determination and pure heart many who followed him began to believe in themselves in the midst of a depression and many hardships. In some crazy fashion this horse began to change the lives of thousands of people all because a few men came together having a sense of purpose, a little hope, a lot of prayers and a horse to get them there.

If an animal like Sea Biscuit could influence people, can you imagine what Jesus Christ can do with you? Hebrews 11 says, "that our life with Christ is built upon what we believe not by what we see." At times in our Christian walk we need those around us that believe in Christ, in us and have a little faith even when we can't see our future. Hopefully, if you are willing, sooner or later that confidence rubs off and we take hold of Gods will for our lives. That's why small groups and close Christian friends are so important in our walk with Christ. Other people can be the glue that holds us together when at times we seem to be falling apart. As in horse racing so it is in our life with Christ, it's not the start that counts it's finishing strong.

Never underestimate the power of small groups and close friends. If it weren't for small groups, close friends and people who believe in me, there have been times during this past year, I don't know what I would have done without them all. Never turn down an invitation from God to fellowship with a close group of friends, participate in an ABF class, or just share some quality time praying and believing in something or someone. Those four men never knew how far a hope, a prayer and a horse could go, but with God all things are possible.

The rarest of all birthstones, alexandrite finds acceptance in clarity grades that would not be acceptable in other gems. It is considered one of the world's most valuable gemstones. Even more rare and valuable is the Cat's Eye alexandrite, the variety of chatoyancy and color change phenomena.

He mentioned during the session that he had problems with time management. This was clear, as he was late for the appointment with the coach. He was stressed due to his job duties as director of an outdoor wilderness program for students with behavior issues.

Identity Skill Set and Assist with Time Management Issues

At the onset of the coaching, Wilbert received three assessments from the KNOWDELL(tm) Card Sorts: Career Value, Motivated Skills and Job Style Indicator. He received these assessments on different occasions to help him concentrate on one skill set at a time. He was impressed with the assessments as they revealed his skills and how to develop skills, he previously averted.

The coach also developed a set of time management cards for Wilbert to use on the job. These cards were useful to him as he was able to better allocate his time.

Furthermore, the coach also used visual skills in the coaching session. At the direction of the coach Wilbert used a mind mapping diagram to pinpoint the present place in his career and identify key issues. The coach used this and other strategies to help Wilbert improve his productivity on the job. Each week Wilbert exhibited notable progress. His stress level decreased as he was able to map out his duties and rearrange his time. This decrease in stress provided more time for Wilbert to enjoy his personal life.

As a director Wilbert wanted to manage everything on his job although it was hurting his health. By using a graphic organizer he was able to map out his duties and rearrange responsibilities so that someone else could take over particular tasks so he could have time to concentrate on other tasks.

In evaluating his own progress through coaching, Wilbert shared in a recent session, "I feel better about accomplishing tasks on my job. I am more productive and less stressed. Coaching really helps me."

Wilbert is one of many clients that coaching helps. Each client is unique in their needs and goals. The value of career coaching is seen everyday in people who utilize this service.

I'm so excited. I got a cool new power point template with orange and yellow flames. It's not too much (well, maybe it is), but I don't care. I like it.

So I transferred my regular presentation to the new template. I got some mesmerizing slide transitions like Jim Edwards used (spinning boxes and such that the audience at Big Seminar were oohing and aahing about). My handouts were ready to go.

TV Plans,big tv screen,build a projector,projection tv,television projectors,tv plans,tv projection ...

Then I find out -- they don't have a projector where I'm speaking.

Bummer.

So I freak out. I call my marketing buddies, who don't answer their phones (they're busy marketing). I dial up my mastermind group. No go. I beg to borrow my ex -husband's projector and big 'ol screen to drag on the one day roundtrip flight. He says yes. I don't know how to set this up. Now my husband John usually goes with me. But since this is just one day, he opts to stay at home and take care of the kids. So I figure I can just figure it out and follow the manual (never mind that techno geek John was unable to set this monster up at the last event and we had to borrow someone else's).

My flight is an hour so I'll have to go through security, take off my shoes, get pat down by the female guard (those metal things are set so low now even my belly ring makes it beep) all while dragging around a 6 foot screen that weighs about 45 pounds, a projector, a laptop and a purse.

Hmmm. This isn't sounding like such a good idea.

Finally, I whine to John. But he's used to me making a big deal out of little things. So he just waits for me to get a grip. Why is it so easy for him to not get mired in the details? Because he's good at seeing the view from 10,000 feet. He's a big picture guy, while I'm stuck staring at blades of grass up close and personal.

Handouts. We nix the projector idea and decide on handouts instead. "Well, there can't just be ANY handouts," I say!! "They have to be eye- catching and fancy. I want them spiral bound with a clear cover and black back. The front page should be color. Oh and they have to be ready by this weekend, John. Thank you very much."

"Lower the bar," he reminds me. He has an annoying way of remembering all the chunks of wisdom I tell him then feeding them back to me. He reminded me that Tom Antion widely distributes a recording with some very bizarre background noises (that's a whole different story I'll tell you sometime).

Happiness as a Habit. Make it an Unforgettable Birthday!.

Health and Happiness are the two things that most people will tell you they desire most. Ask a parent what they want most for their child and they will almost always say, "I really don't care, as long as they are healthy and happy." Sometimes people say they want love, success or wealth, but when asked why, they think for a moment and then say because these things would make them happy.

Usually people desire health above all else but only when they feel that it is threatened. People rarely think about health when they are young, fit, pain and disease free.

The single most sought after life experience is happiness.

If you made a list of the things you wished to improve in your life and then added notes alongside each item, detailing the amount of time and effort you were putting into each one, you would be greatly surprised at the lack of logic and or commitment you are applying to increasing or maintaining happiness. You may have happiness as the thing you most desire but your notes may reveal you spend 50 hours a week at

Relationship, love, sex, romance, marriage means happiness

your career, 10 hours housekeeping and 20 hours watching T.V. Next to the word &Happiness' you may find, &10 minutes' or more likely, &No time at all'.

Have you ever even stopped to think about what it is that makes you happy? Has it ever dawned on you to actively pursue happiness? Most of us simply consider happiness to be a random act that catches us fleetingly and disappears all too soon.

Happiness has fascinated me my entire life, I constantly seek it and play with it. I'm getting better at prolonging it and faster at recognizing it.

Honestly, sometimes I just sit and focus on happiness until, "I bring it on".

It takes a little concentration, sometimes some memory and sometimes imagination. Practise and focus have resulted in my ability to simply decide to be happy and I remind myself to do this often. I used to wait and be surprised and delighted when something caused me to be happy until I realized I could actually get happiness without an event or situation.

When happiness comes accidentally it entices us to, "be in the moment". Most of us are mentally in a perpetual state of being in the past or future most of the time. In happiness, we pull our attention into the present moment to fully experience this great feeling. (Pain also has this ability.) I mention this, as I know that the most essential requirement for happiness is to practise, &Living in the present moment'.

Happiness is a present moment experience.

We all wait for happy events to come and find us or we sometimes actively seek out things that we believe will bring us happiness. Winning money, buying a big-ticket item, getting married, having a child, a holiday, a promotion or finding a new lover are usually considered to be happy events. Many of us spend a great amount of time, effort and money actively pursuing these things.

Unfortunately these things come with a &Happiness expiry date'.

Ironically, we often find our happiness list reverses on us at a later date. We then hear, "I'll be happy when my divorce comes through, when I retire, when the kids leave home." The car you once dreamed about owning is now just a costly mode of transport. Your bride has become your witch and your home is cluttered with things you long forgot you even possess.

Happiness is not about having - Happiness is about being.

We have all heard it before but we must constantly remind our selves, &Happiness comes from within'.

Happiness is internally generated not externally manufactured.

Happiness is not a tonic with a recipe; I cannot give you a list of things to do to guarantee your happiness. Some people seem to never be happy, no matter what and yet other people are just filled with joy for the simplest reasons. Most of the time I am happy for no particular reason at all other than the fact that I choose to be.

There are two basic principles that I do consider to be imperative; One; Is actively pursue, maintain, expand and share happiness. Two; Is minimize, eliminate and repel unhappiness.

The most important aspect of happiness is to choose what thoughts you will entertain and which thoughts you will dismiss.

Eliminate what you hate. This is going to sound a little obvious but it's amazing when you get down to it, just how much grief you may be hanging onto without ever giving it any serious thought at all. "How much of your time, emotion and energy are you wasting on maintaining things that make you unhappy?"

Some people spend their entire working life is jobs that are almost soul destroying. Many people stay in relationships that are physically, mentally and emotionally draining. We may have friends, colleagues, neighbours or relatives that simply, &drive us crazy' and yet we maintain them. Some people hold on to addictions or habits that time and again bring about the same destructive outcome and yet they still go around and around repeating the cycle over and over. If you are serious about increasing your happiness level you must first define what makes you unhappy and take action to eliminate it.

Being unhappy robs us of our health by depleting our energy.

Love and happiness are the highest and lightest forms of energy. This higher, lighter form of energy is self-generating. Unhappiness robs us of energy and if left unchecked will lead to depression and tiredness. Your energy level is a great way to measure your happiness or your stress level. It is also gives you an accurate indication of your health in general. Happiness and love will fill you with energy and a good supply of energy will bring you more joy.

If it brings your Grief - Make it Brief.

Where is your focus and what is your perception? Almost every terrible thing that ever happened to you only happened in your imagination. Just think back over the last year and remind yourself of the things that had you tossing and turning in bed at night. Try and recall all the things that really had you worried, scared or upset.

How many actually happened? And of the ones that did happen, how many were anywhere near as bad as you had imagined?

Stepping up and stepping out of our comfort zones. You know the saying, "One door closes and another door opens." I've often been very frustrated with this, as I wondered, "Why doesn't the new door ever open before the old door closes?" It seems to me that more often than not, my doors close long before the new doors open and I have spend a long time being panicked in corridors.

It's scary! Life gives us many situations in which we lose our comfort zone long before our new life is revealed to us. Ah, life in limbo! We handle it badly, but a fact of life it is. In reinventing yourself you are going to have to accept that limbo is not only a high probability but you are also going to have to actively take yourself there deliberately.

I have often thought of my life pushing me up an arduous mountain and leaving me with no way of going back, I imagine fire moving swiftly behind me, threatening me and pushing me forward. When I reach the top of the mountain I realize I must jump or be engulfed by the fire. The terror of believing I will either be burned to death or smashed against the rocks at the bottom of the mountain has me completely immobilized.

Then somewhere in the back of my mind I hear a voice, "Jump, you can fly!"

If you want small, safe changes to occur in your life then the effort and risk will not be so frightening but if you really wish to "Step out and step up" You had better accept that you will need to be Bold and Brave. You will never fly if you won't leave the ground.

2. CONDITIONS. Everything that exists, any activity, is always in some condition. These conditions are very well defined, there are only 6 of them. Depending on statistics, every activity is in one of these 6 possible conditions. Any activity starts in the condition of Non-Existence. As it becomes better established and more known, it raises up to Danger. Then, as it expands, it passes through the condition of Emergency into Normal Operation and then may reach Affluence or even Power. So the conditions from the bottom up are: Non-Existence, Danger, Emergency, Normal, Affluence and Power. Each of these conditions has a "formula", a series of steps which would lead the activity out of any condition it is in and move it into a higher condition. + For example, formula for the condition of Non-Existence is:

�½ Find a communication line - a channel on which communication can be sent out and received.

�½ Make yourself known.

�½ Discover what is needed and wanted.

�½ Do, produce and/or present it.

This is the starting condition for any activity. It is easy to see that any gross non-compliance with any of these 4 steps would make it impossible for any activity to eventually reach Affluence. People either know these conditions and use the formulas or follow conditions intuitively, or completely neglect them, commit gross errors and fail.

Statistically, these 6 conditions look as follows:

- Non-Existence: statistics are crushed to the bottom or stay extremely low for a long time or it is a brand new activity.

- Danger: statistics drop sharply or there is a gradual drop over a long period of time.

- Emergency: statistics are slightly down or remain unchanged (no rise, no fall).

- Normal Operation: gradual increase in statistics.

- Affluence: significant increase in statistics, very steep uptrend.

- Power: after a period of Affluence statistics go into Normal Operation trend (gradual rise) on a brand new very high level.

3. DATA ANALYSIS/SITUATION ANALYSIS. Accurate analysis of a situation is a science in itself. It is based on the subject called Logic. It is not feasible to get into it at any length here but there are 2 points that must be understood:

1. There is a cause for every non-optimal situation in business. That cause is defined as something under your control which if handled will resolve the exact problem and revert the statistics.

2. To handle any situation you have to handle the exact reason that created it, not something else.

This seems obvious but people often do the opposite. For example, an employee keeps breaking tools, the owner keeps buying better and sturdier tools. What problem is he trying to solve and what was the cause of that problem in his opinion? The actual reason was that the employee was untrained and needed drilling and apprenticeship. It just required a little bit of an investigation and observation to figure out.

That seems to be the only feasible way now!

Since 1950 the women's movement began getting stronger in western society. Although noted, the movement started earlier than the time I have written, but for arguments sake, we will focus on the last 50 years before year 2000 begun with the shift of the universal energy.

During this period women's rights started to increase further into becoming equal rights. Even so, there are still many issues that are yet to be tackled which the society of men are resisting letting go of.

To understand what I am trying to say in this article, we need to understand first that there are two main vibrations that we work in this world. Those are the male and female vibrations. Let's consider that the Male vibration was in domination for the majority of the last past 1000 years. During the 19th century alone of male domination, what in the world did we really accomplish other than World Wars I & II, the Vietnam War, the Israel / Arab war, the Korean War, the Gulf war and many other wars which have taken place in many other parts of the world? All these wars have been fuelled by mans greed and hunger for power and if we took some time to read up on the history of any of them, we could be honest and say that in reality we accomplished very few things as a result.

So far we have managed to get to the moon and we are now able to at least explore some of our universe. This is all very well, but somehow it seems to be all for the wrong reasons. With all of this comes the issue of who is going to be in control of that space we have discovered. Whoever manages to gain that control, for sure they will think it will bring them again, even more power. It seems that what we have accomplished throughout the 19th Century has only brought more grief, hate, anger, frustration, disliking each other according to our religions, our culture and our color, and many other judgments to exist between us. So when we live in a world based on all of these negative feelings, what kind of an accomplishment is that after all?

We are able to see everywhere around us today in all the terrorism, the war on drugs and the drive on weapons of mass destruction. These are but a few examples. Another thing is that something I feel deep inside reflects my personal opinion on the issue of diseases such as AIDS and SARS. I believe that many of the diseases, which have occurred over the last century, are man made. I also believe that they are secret laboratory projects that have been designed as another attempt of certain people gaining power over others. We are all aware that disease is a more effective and discreet means of attack than a missile or a bomb these days. It can hit masses of people, though without affecting the structure of buildings, cities, countries etc. Unfortunately, the reality is that when greed is blinding us, we will go to any extreme to acquire power in this world.

Female Vibration as our second vibration is a softer vibration, kind, human, caring,

nurturing, and intuitive was dormant during the last 1000 years, being obedient to the dominant male vibration and becoming almost non-existent as a result. During that period women were abused, treated as absent in matter of opinion and many time choice. That was really unfortunate. In the eyes of man women were toys to what men wanted or what the men wanted to see their women to be. The fashion was driven by men, Cosmetic, perfume and much other industry that dictate women's choice by being slim or being fat and tapping on their insecurity and in some non-existent self-confidence. That damage that fetch to women brought them a low self-esteem and low self-confidence. While women are seeing and watching man and the universe vibration was starting to prepare to make its shift into the 20th century. That helped in the confidence of women to start to stand up and demand change but one thing is still wrong here.

Woman have adapted to building up a great deal of male energy in their vibration. This is often an unconscious attempt of surviving in this predominantly male world. It is as if they need that male energy in order to gain their own position in society. This is one main reason why women are still not succeeding in the way they should be as females. Here is an example, there are two candidates running for the position of manager in the same office. One candidate is a woman and the other is a man. The man is as masculine as we know a man to be and the woman is a woman inside a woman body, however, she is overloaded with male energy. So who would you choose? What is the best option for the woman? Is it to attempt playing the role of a man in the hope that you have a better chance of being hired? Many women think that being a woman is a weakness. They think that women are too soft and delicate and that they are sissies! Men are always the ones in power, so who can blame them? Women think it is cool to act like men, to be tough, to be a fighter and a survivor. Most of the world thinks that way, so who do you think gets the job? Of course, the woman loses. Yet, maybe if she had just been herself, an admirable, smart, intelligent and powerful woman then perhaps she would have had a better chance at getting the job? Who knows?

I want to see woman in a higher ranking. I want to see women leading our countries. This world is sick. This planet is sick and needs the caring love and compassion from a motherly energy to heal and take care of it. All you women out there do not be afraid! You will lose nothing by being who you really are! Honestly! Just bring forth your real female energy and the universe will support you regardless. You came to this plane as a woman for a reason, not to try and become a man, something of which you are not! Now in our time woman should have the upper hand for the next 1000 years whilst the universe is sending us a predominant female energy. You are being asked to balance your male and female vibration and that means by NOT allowing your male vibration to take over your own essence of being a female with that energy and personality. Don't walk like man, there is not need! Don't act like a man and don't try to be like a man, for you are not one! Allow your femininity to resurface. Don't lose your male side just balance it by not allowing it to take over your female side completely because it really doesn't mean that you will have better shot at rising to the top more easily.

These days many of our relationships are not working, and on many occasions it is because both people involved are acting as if they are the male in the relationship. It makes me wonder why people even bother to judge people who are gay or lesbian because energetically, heterosexual relationships are the same thing when they consist of a couple of different sexes, yet with same vibration. Pay attention to women who are walking on the street and you will see for yourself. Watch the way they walk and watch their attitude. Just because they have breasts, wear make-up and dress in a skirt and heels, it does not make them a woman if their energy is not feminine. Does it make any sense to you? You will be amazed at how many women you see who are like men; now that it has been brought to your attention!

I really urge woman to wake up! In reality women are the stronger sex and we can see they are already beginning to hold major positions these days. There are many women these days who do hold high positions, yet how many of them are working from a true female vibration with their male energy balanced? Challenge men on the right issues. Challenge them on things where they are bought by big corporations. Challenge them to handle the problems with the environment, challenge them with Medicare, challenge them to handle the issues with the homeless people sleeping on the streets and challenge them to deal with child care. Challenge them with issues that require the application of love, compassion, sensitivity, patience and acceptance. We need to learn how to begin bringing value to all human beings and treat all individuals as a soul, because that is what we all are instead of being just another number in the system. Challenge men to fix the problems with wars that are driven with the intention of claiming control over our planets oil. The wars that are created with a fake intention of taking care of normal people whilst other men, women and children in our cities are homeless, poor and starving. Our intentions are all wrong and our interests are based upon satisfying very few of the population whilst others remain feeling abandoned and hopeless.

What is important to women today, just to keep limping on through life until they vanish completely one day? It is about time they all made a stand for what is right. It is time to stand up for what you think will make a difference in the world. It is time to stand up and bring dignity to another human soul, regardless their religion, color or culture. Women need to state their true intentions and BALANCE their male and female energies because all the limitation which exists in women's lives is there because they accept it. In the end it is your life, your responsibility, your choice and that all lies in your own hands.

We are all sitting and just waiting for a change to occur. Yet, change is only in your own hands. Make change, lead it, shape it and bring the new awareness and understanding that all people are hungry for in our world today. Day-by-day people are walking with frustration, inner sadness, they are all screaming and cursing each other the majority of the time and for what? There is no real justified reason! Just take a good look at the world around and you will get an idea what I am talking about. The state of the world is devastating, and I wonder how long we can survive if we remain living this way. I guess if no-one can be bothered to make any changes then we will just have to wait and see.

Oakland NJ - A Great Town for Kids. Personal Trainers with Real People, Real Situations.

My children, my wife and I have been fortunate to have lived in the town of Oakland NJ, for the past 18 years. The commitment to kids sports programs, especially girls softball, I think would be hard to surpass by any other town this size. ( 14,000 -15,000 people).

I have seen many girls flourish in the Softball program, playing on traveling teams, and at the varsity level at our High School. Part of the success the girls have is due to the efforts of a handful of men and women who are the commissioners, coaches and administrators of these programs I would hate to think what my daughter's life would be like if she was not playing softball. She loves that softball.

In the spirit of keeping the game going; I have seen them organize teams, balance schedules, and choose coaches. I have watched them scramble to find an umpire so the game could be played. I have seen them on the golf cart riding around - trying to locate the key that opens the shed, so the lights could be turned on for a night game. They are always around to make sure that things worked. I wonder how they are able to calm parents, satisfy their critics, and keep a cool head in so many volatile situations. I guess the answer is they love the game more than it's headaches.

TO DO OR NOT TO DO? ... ABS

TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO WRITING ARTICLE:

Jeanne is a client I have worked with for a number of years, and through a couple of births with very quick recoveries. She is naturally tall and thin with wide hips and very

flat abs. She has that perfect body for wearing couture as you can see from her Vogue magazine write up in October of 2003. She is the type that doesn't want muscle showing at all, just long sleek &feminine' lines. We have stepped up her workouts of late because she is getting stronger and we do need to keep up the challenge to maintain that high metabolic burn rate for caloric expenditure, without creating muscle definition. Jeanne doesn't like doing cardio so that's not a solution.

Recently when beginning our workout Jeanne stops, pulls up her t-shirt and shows me her abs. Iam very pleased with what I see, which is the definition of where the lower obliques end and the rectus abdominus (your quadrants, also known as &6 packs') begin. There was strong deliniation indicating the muscles beneath. Jeanne points to it and says " I don't want this." In my shock the only thing I can think to say is "If there were a group of women in hear watching us, they'd all groan at you."

Everyone is different and has different goals. So Jeanne now thinks that she should just not do abdominal exercises and asks "Why do I need to do them, my abs are fine the way they are? Can you write about this in your next newsletter so I better understand why I need to do abs."

I then launch into an explanation of the importance of core work(abs). About how your abs stabilize you and help prevent injury by bracing and tightening. The brain sends a message to the transverse abdominus (remember that girdle muscle we all spent time on, with the breathing exercises) before it tells any other muscle to move. For example, the mind tells the knee to lift but before the quadricep muscles initiates the lifting response the transverse abdominus recieves the message to react by tightening for balance, control and strength. So essentially you brace yourself from your abs and then you initiate the movement, braced and centered. Which is why I constantly repeat "pull your navel in and wrap it around your spine." The more this response is practiced, the more proficient, balanced, coordinated, centered and strong you are plus the flatter your

abs are.

There is a highly credentialed school of thought that advocates: "Every exercise, every movement and every activity you do is an abdominal exercise if you draw your belly button in and brace your abdominal muscles. Sit-ups and crunches waste your time and do not produce results." I personally believe that there is not one formula for all bodies. For those that have no lower back problems, ever, plus perfect balance, coordination and that conditioned response to pull the navel in to the spine, I say yes, you don't need to do abs. But for us mere mortals who at times twist, bend and pull things (or children!)and forget to brace...well you still need to do your abs. Remember practice makes perfect and that bracing response at varying resistances and degrees is not innate but practiced. So based on this article I will let Jeanne be her own judge and in an informed way let her decide whether she needs to do her abs or not.

PS. If she decides to not do them I will monitor carefully her balance, strength , coordination and lower back response and if I do see any signs of weakness I will discuss with her the need to suffuse an ab workout intermittently.

TWO WEEKS LATER

Jeanne has since clarified that she doesn't want the muscle definition but most of all she doesn't want any roundness of the belly. So, we entirely ommitted crunches. By eliminating the crunches and working the abs through whole body movements and engaging the twisting and bending movements her abs have flattened out entirely again. She has not lost balance, strength or coordination and her conditioned response is now to pull navel in and brace her abs. She will not have that 6 pack definition that is so sought after, but that is her personal choice. For myself personally and all clients who choose to do so I will continue to do crunches, coming up and working only to the point where the navel can stay in towards the center of gravity(spine). If the abdominals pop out at all the belly will develop roundness, and that conditioned response to pulling in may be weakened. But isn't it great to know that you can be working your abs all day long, in whatever you are doing, just brace them and pull in! Voila! Flat abs.
